Report a problem

If a tool gives you the wrong answer, a link is dead, or something here could be better — please tell us. It is the fastest way this site gets less wrong.

We would rather hear it than not. A report means either a tool needs improving or it has a fault nobody noticed when it was built, and both are worth knowing. Every report is read by a person.

Where something turns out to be wrong, the fix and the working behind it go up on the page itself. Most things are sorted within a week or two. A few take longer, and some turn out not to be faults after all — you will be told either way if you leave an address.

Several of the corrections on this site arrived exactly this way.

This page sends the report you write below to an email service, Mailjet, which delivers it to one mailbox. Every calculator here works its answer out on your own device and sends nothing anywhere. This page is the exception, and it is the exception on purpose — a message has to reach a person to be any use. Please do not put anything confidential in it.

Filled in automatically when you arrive from a tool page. Please correct it if it is wrong.
Only used to reply to you about this report. Leave it blank and the report is anonymous.

What happens to it

It arrives as an email. One person reads it, in the United Kingdom. If you left an address we may write back to ask what you typed; if you did not, the report is still read and still acted on.

This is a site run by one person, so there is no support desk and no ticket number. What there is instead: a real person reads every report, and anything that turns out to be wrong gets corrected on the page with the working shown. Where something turns out to be right after all, and you left an address, we will say so and show why.

If you would rather send an email

That is completely fine, and it reaches the same person: hello@showtheworking.com. There is more about what that address is and is not for on the contact page.

What this form is not for

Valuations, authentication, and anything urgent or medical. Nothing on this site is advice, and a form on a calculator site is not the place for a question that matters that much.

What this form sends, and why it is the one place on the site that sends anything you typed, is set out on the privacy page.
